Rush is a term used by most college campuses to indicate that fraternities are opening their doors in order to meet potential new members for their chapter. The term "rush" is thought to refer back to when college fraternity men would wait and listen for the local train whistle to blow indicating the new freshman men have arrived. All of the fraternities would "rush" to the station to be the first to greet the men getting off the trains.
Florida State offers two specific rush weeks. One is in the fall and the other in the spring and they are usually held 3 weeks after the start of classes. As members of the Chi Phi Fraternity however, we believe in recruiting "365". This means that we are always searching for potential new members 365 days out of the year. Chi Phi is a fraternity of three core values consisting of truth, honor, and personal integrity and as such we are looking for young men who share and idealize these values. We believe that a fraternity is an institution that shapes a man out of the young boy that enters college and provides an atmosphere which positively encourages personal growth. Through our strong brotherhood, competition in intramural sports, academic excellence and social atmosphere we believe that Chi Phi is the ideal fraternity for such growth. Being not only a fraternity man, but a brother of the Chi Phi fraternity means you must be well disciplined, gentlemanly at all times, a good time manager, and a community oriented individual. We are always looking for men that believe in these same qualities and welcome anyone that does to stop by and meet some of the brothers at any time. Chi Phi is the premier men's fraternity and we welcome you to become a part of it.
